Responses

What a seller says back: how a response is classified, why every classification is phrased as a claim, what a response does to the sequence, and what it never does.

Last revised

Replies arrive at your reply-to address, in your own mail. MapProtector does not read a mailbox. A response is recorded against the breach period by a person, and it is shown on the notice page, on the case under Replies from the seller, and on the case timeline — with the plain statement that nothing arrives there on its own.

Recording a reply

  1. Open the case from Compliance › Cases. Under Enforcement › Replies from the seller, choose Record a reply (Compliance Manager and above).
  2. Say when it was received and how it reached you — an email reply, the marketplace’s messaging, a phone call or letter, or another channel you describe. Name the notice it answers if it answers one, the address it came from as written, and a summary in your own words.
  3. Classify it now or leave it not yet classified; either way it pauses escalation on the period until it is resolved.
  4. When it has been dealt with, choose Resolve beside it, on the case or under Compliance › Enforcement › Replies, with the classification. The sequence resumes only when nothing else on the period is unresolved.

Every reply shows who recorded it and when, and who resolved it. The summary is yours, shown as yours; keep the reply itself in your own mail with the case reference.

Classifications

Every classification is phrased from the seller’s side — what they said, not what is true. A seller cannot change their authorization standing by asserting it in an email.

ClassificationMeaning
AcknowledgedThey confirmed receipt and said nothing else.
Disputes policyThey disagree that the policy applies or is enforceable.
Claims an authorized promotionThey say the price was part of a promotion you ran. If that is right, the promotion belongs in your policy; recording the claim does not create one.
Claims to be an authorized sellerThey say they are an authorized reseller. This records the claim. It does not change the seller’s standing, which only your team can set — and authorization does not by itself permit a price below MAP.
Promises cureThey said they will fix the price.
Says curedThey said they have fixed it. A cure is confirmed from an observation, never from a claim.
No longer sellingThey said they have stopped selling the product.
OtherSomething else.

What a response does

  • It pauses the sequence run, so the next stage is not drafted while a person reads the reply. Lifting the pause is a decision.
  • It is written to the case timeline as Response received, attributed to the person who recorded it, and shown on every notice for the period.
  • It produces an internal alert to the people who subscribe to enforcement events.

What a response never does

  • It never cures the period. Only an observation at or above MAP does that. See Verification.
  • It never changes the seller’s standing. Classify the seller on the Sellers page if the claim checks out.
  • It never sends anything.
